Hawaii – Halekulani Hotel Review

Posted by travelanswerman | July 20, 2012

This is one of the best hotels in the USA ! This stunning ocean front resort is located in the center of Waikiki with amazing picture perfect views of Diamond Head! Each time I return, the mind, body and spirit are overwhelmed! They are the luxury example in the hospitality industry!

Exceptional service…service…service! How many staff in other properties around the world memorize your name upon arrival? Very few if any! They hope to make you feel at home as soon as you walk in.

My only problem with them, is it’s almost impossible to leave! Life is good, especially when you stay with the best! Check them out next time you are in Honolulu, Hawaii! Aloha!

Posted by travelanswerman | July 18, 2012

The Travel Writer’s Handbook by Jacqueline Harmon Butler and Louise Purwin Zobel is a remarkable overview on the subject of travel writing! The authors have covered every thing imaginable allowing the reader to get their equivalent “Ph.D” in travel writing. Insightful tips and thoughtful techniques are continually woven through the book helping the novice writer or even the professional to become better with their craft. I highly recommend this book!

The Hidden Gardens of Paris

Posted by travelanswerman | May 16, 2012

Sometimes the most important things in life are right in front of us. Maybe it is because of their simplicity they remain hidden to the majority. Yet, when discovered the reward can be great!

The Hidden Gardens of Paris written by Susan Cahill might be the key that unlocks the door to a special side of Paris where she passionately shares about the heavenly realms of the city few of us get to know. The exceptional photography by Marion Ranoux, demands you come see and taste the good life as it can only be experienced in France!

Tedeschi Vineyards and Winery. Check out Maui’s only winery and its beautiful historic grounds. It’s Maui’s version of Napa Valley! Located on the scenic slopes of the volcano Haleakala, the drive itself is a great alternative to hanging at the beach all day. www.mauiwine.com

Maui’s Best – Mama’s Fish House and Maui Visitor Channel 7

Posted by travelanswerman | March 20, 2012

During my annual visit to Maui, I make it a priority to enjoy a meal at Mama’s Fish House.  I dined with my good friend, Jim Kartes, founder of Paradise Television Network/Maui Visitor Channel 7- in my estimation, both Jim and Mama’s are Maui treasures – and both receive Travel Answer Man’s highest recommendations!

From the moment you hand your car to the valet, make the enchanting walk down the palm tree lined path along this dramatic north shore property - both the setting and service never disappoint.   There is a reason for the worldwide accolades this restaurant owns and the entire staff at Mama’s continues to far exceed my highest expectations!

Don’t miss out on the meal of a lifetime when you next visit Maui – www.mamasfishhouse.com

And be sure to check out the Maui Visitor Channel 7 – www.mauionline.com – your finest resource for dining, activities, shopping, and lodging on the island of Maui.

Aloha from Paradise!!!

Maui Condos – The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach

Posted by travelanswerman | March 19, 2012

I recently returned to Maui in the Hawaiian Islands, one of the world’s favorite tropical islands. If you are a first time visitor, you are in for an amazing life changing experience. The endless activities, gourmet cuisine, shopping and stunning scenery are all over the top! It truly is a world class destination and is frequently mentioned as such by the best travel authorities in the industry.

What do most people look for in choosing a premier resort property? They want a central location, on an extraordinary beach, plus easy access to shopping and a choice of fine restaurants nearby. The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach definitely meets all these criteria and so much more. Did I forget to say you can select from a number of PGA certified world famous golf courses within minutes of your accommodations?

A successful business MUST have outstanding people! In my opinion, it is the number one reason why this resort continues to receive such high accolades. I always have been treated as if I am family. They wrote the definition on the meaning of Ohana! This year, I want to give a special ” shout out” to Helen at the Front Desk Reception. She has a special way of making sure everything is perfect! Nothing is too difficult for her or her colleagues. Imagine perfection in Paradise! Now you know why Maui and this fine resort have become an annual stop on my global travels.

Maui – Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop

Posted by travelanswerman | March 16, 2012

When traveling as much as I do, it is a rare day that one can find a touch of home so far away on the Hawaiian island of Maui. Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop, in the quaint village of Olowalu, was the perfect re-fueling station after a long day of meetings and interviews. Chef Sheldon Simeon’s (voted by his peers as the Aipono Awards Chef of the Year) menu was like a walk thru memory lane with mom’s recipes.

This wonderful gem of a restaurant offers the hungry visitor a wide variety of savory and sweet pies, salads, sandwiches and hamburgers. But, do not assume these choices are your basic restaurant fare.  For example, I ordered their signature Fried Salad which was a marvelous tongue tasting experience in itself! Made from the outer leaves of brussels sprouts then fried to a light and crispy texture then married with a mouth watering burnt-orange vinaigrette plus mixed with a variety of other garden fresh greens. Wow! My main entree was the old home favorite Chicken Pot Pie. I actually thought it was better than mom’s! Sorry mom!!!

If you still have room for dessert, maybe you will float away to just this side of heaven with one of their famous pies! This is a must stop for anyone who thinks that eating at mom’s house is just a faded memory!

The Zappos Experience review

Posted by travelanswerman | March 5, 2012

The Zappos Experience states up front that it will inspire, engage and wow! That seems quite a lot to promise for anybody or any company. How do they accomplish it? They have to “own” the company defined as taking full and complete responsibility for everything. This includes the people, the products, the values…everything! Then they have to direct it all!

In life as in the business world, only a few survive let alone be considered successful. Find out how Zappos managed to become the best and follow the story that tells how they accomplished it. Rising to the top is possible, unfortunately, most get lost along the way. Loved it!
