Cavallo Point – The Lodge at the Golden Gate

By travelanswerman | October 25, 2010

Timeless! I recently found a place that takes one back many years when things were simpler in this world and one could appreciate life to the fullest! It was Cavallo Point – the Lodge at the Golden Gate!

Tucked in neatly and adjacent to the north-east end of the Golden Gate Bridge, this property takes full advantage of the breathtaking views provided by being located across the bay from one of the gems of the world - San Francisco. Can’t you just see the fog and the sun competing to hide or showcase the most spectacular bridge on Earth? It happened frequently during our stay. The best adjectives you can find in Webster’s latest edition will not adequately describe an eyewitness account!

The architecture of this masterpiece resort easily blends the historic past with the modern present leaving the guest with an unusual sense of time travel. Am I really here or just dreaming?

Need to relax your weary body? Maybe all you require is “40 winks” on the impressive front porch of the reception building in one of their comfortable rocking chairs. You’ll dream away looking across the bay where writers have received inspiration for years! Or maybe your restoration demands the full attention of the professional staff at the Healing Arts Center & Spa. They offer you the opportunity to indulge in a world-class spa in tranquil surroundings while your body, mind and soul are revived and replenished! It would be just what the doctor ordered after a long, hard day!

Time to eat? You could take the short ride into lovely Sausalito and enjoy fine dining at any number of lovely bayside restaurants. Or you could take advantage of your superb location at the Lodge and experience their Michelin-star restaurant Murray Circle. I decided one only goes around once in life and allowed the splurging to begin! It truly was one of our many highlights that day and a dining experience that will long be remembered!

Just before retiring that evening, we sat back on the front porch of our apartment and attempted to relive the special moments of the day. We wanted to completely capture the magical setting before us, the city lights of San Francisco and the illuminated Golden Gate Bridge plus soak up the superb amenities within our gracious contemporary accommodations. This is what we call back home “real Country Club living.”

A memory worth repeating frequently year after year! Hats off to a staff that deserve a standing ovation!
