Travel And Your Health

By travelanswerman | January 2, 2010

Your health is always important, even more so when traveling. You undertake a journey comfortably when you feel at home physically. The state of physical wellness ensures comfort and convenience for you during travels.

Maintaining healthy eating habits is of primary concern no matter whether you are at rest or on the go. Do not leave the balanced diet chart that you feed on in day-to-day life when you are about to take your next vacation. If you are much of a heavy traveler or a busy person, physical fitness should be a priority with you.

Headache, constipation, fatigue, indigestion are common health problems that may trouble you while you are on the road. You are likely to experience them due to several reasons. Dehydration is the most common factor to cause these problems. That is why drinking plenty of water is an all time recommendation. It can help you avoid dehydration when you travel by air in particular. Plenty of water keeps your body in balance while flying high.

Keep a curb on caffeine intake during travels. Energy drinks are rich in caffeine and full of sugary ingredients. Though they stimulate the level of bodily energy, the sugar content of these energy-enhancing drinks boosts the level of cholesterol in the blood. The body feels fatigued when the energy level falls down after a brief period.

Intake of fiber and protein is highly beneficial to keep you fit and fine on the road. Fruits and vegetables that are high in water are good suppliers of fiber. Fiber intake prevents constipation by keeping dehydration away. Diarrhea results often from stress. If you are stressed with anxiety about any aspect of travel, take some low-fiber foods to distress yourself the day before traveling.

A protein rich diet helps stabilize the level of blood sugar in the body that in turn curbs your appetite for sweets. Include beef, turkey, whole-grain bread with natural peanut butter and hard-boiled eggs into your travel diet chart. Protein keeps you healthier than carbohydrates. Avoiding much intake of oily and spicy dishes is a suggestion for travelers. Above all, your health depends on your knowledge of which foods to take and which foods to avoid during long travels.
