On a recent business trip to west Maui, the Travel Answer Man had the wonderful experience of visiting some of the best restaurants on island. I will try to briefly capture some of the memories for you.
Lahaina Grill
Frequently voted as “Best Maui Restaurant” by the Honolulu Magazine readers’ poll. My close friend, who lives in Maui, says it definitely is deserving of the reward and that it should be a must stop whenever in Lahaina. You may ask why? It’s because of the service, outstanding cuisine, and friendly atmosphere. If you want the best experience possible, ask to be seated at the bar. But remember, you’ll need to arrive when they open promptly at 6:00 pm. The bar is the focal point of the entire restaurant and you’ll quickly sense the energy of an incredible atmosphere. When ordering, it is a must to request what the Chef recommends for seafood that day. You might just have the best best dinner of your life. Tell them the Travel Answer Man sent you their way.
Mala An Ocean Tavern
Looking for the perfect dinner combination on your next visit to Maui? Look no further than Mala An Ocean Tavern. They have an extraordinary location directly on the Pacific Ocean facing the island of Lanai. Of course, it will be required that you have some desire to enjoy spectacular sunsets, incredible seafood along with your other favorite dinner items, and a high energy atmosphere you will not forget. Can I suggest my favorite cocktail for the evening? They make the best Mojitos anywhere I have ever been. Ask for Chris to mix your next one. He has his PhD in mixology…really. I bet you’ll go there frequently during your holiday….it’s that great!
Aloha Mixed Plate
They keep winning awards each year for the “Best Plate Lunch” on Maui. But remember, they are also open for dinner. I always make sure I stop here a least a couple of times when on island. It’s my way of connecting with the locals and reliving the fond memories when I used to live in Kaanapali.
This is a great place to take the entire family and not break your budget. The food is local, good, affordable and the view is one of a kind. Lanai sits right across the water only minutes from your table tempting you to go explore her the next day. If your thought is to have dinner, make sure your arrive early around 5:30 pm. This will guarantee your perfect South Pacific sunset right on cue. Enjoy!
